The photo above shows a prototype copy. The components of the production copies may look slightly different, and the colour of the wooden cubes will likely change. Mentor cards will have an illustration on them - the art was not ready when we printed the prototype series. All cards are standard poker-sized cards.



Game components and gameplay are language-independent. All games will include an English rulebook booklet, and we will do our best to add other languages as downloadable pdfs. Our native language, Slovene will also be available.

Become a musher, assemble your husky sled, and race through the snowy wilderness!


First, choose the huskies for their abilities - snowflake movement points, and place them into the sled. But careful! Huskies have characters and not all of them like each other, so be sure to match the neighboring's cards' edges.



Do you have the equipment to get through the treacherous terrain, and have you taken enough time to train and care for your huskies? Make sure that you are well prepared, once you start racing, every musher is on their own.



You are ready to race! Use the combination of your huskies' skills and equipment to cover the longest daily distance. And may the best musher win!

Huskies are the stars of Hike! and the core of the dog-sledding team. If you google dog sledding, you will inevitably stumble upon controversy regarding dog abuse. We want to clearly state that there is absolutely no place for such behavior in Hike!. We see dog sledding as a team activity, where mushers and huskies work together, as a team, and they respect each other and care for each other. We believe no team member's well-being should ever be sacrificed for sports achievement!




We are based in Europe, so the base prices are given in euros. We have added approximate US dollar prices, but please see the current exchange rate if you want to know the exact prices down to cents. VAT is included in the price.




Add-ons are items that you can add to your base pledge in the pledge manager. To add it, simply select the item from the 'ADD ON' list. This menu will come up after clicking the 'Continue' button on the campaign pledge.




If you like Hike! and wish to have an even bigger experience, the Events and Traits expansion is for you. It adds a hefty deck of 64 cards to the gameplay. It includes trait cards that players get at the beginning of the game and that give them a bit of asymmetric starting positions, and event cards that add another layer to card drafting, and present players with more options in the race phase. Event cards are divided into two groups - the majority of them are events that only influence the race track or the player that played them, and there are 12 event cards that include more player interaction and a bit of 'take that' element. Players can decide if they want these last 12 events part of the game or not. The cards include text in English.

From the start, Hike! was intended to be a light and fast family-friendly game, but it has grown a bit from the original idea during the playtesting process. Most of the design team and a lot of our early playtesters like heavier (Euro)games, so ideas on how to add more depth and strategy spurred spontaneously. We didn't want to make all of them part of the base game, as we still wish for Hike! to be an inclusive game for all gamers, so we decided to offer them as an expansion. Beware, the expansion still doesn't make Hike! a heavy (Euro)game! But it does offer an interesting twist that we think more advanced players will enjoy. For all of you who like to have options!



Stretch goals are bonuses that we will add to the campaign when we hit certain funding levels. We have prepared some additional upgrades, eye candies and components that we hope to be able to add to the base game. We will announce them once we reach our funding goal. 




We are a new board game publisher, and not many people have heard about us yet, so getting out the word about Hike! really means a lot to us. We have prepared some treats to thank you for helping us reach more people.

Below are the estimated shipping prices for different pledges. Shipping prices are subject to change due to fluctuations in global shipping. Additionally, we plan to have a local pickup available in Hrastnik, Slovenia, and we hope to be at Essen Spiel 2022 with a shipping-free pickup available there too.




The idea for Hike! was born in January 2021. We created a proof-of-concept prototype and started testing and tweaking it. In February, we had a homemade prototype that was ready for playtesting outside our group, and Hike! had been continuously tested live and online through the following months. Simultaneously, an artist joined the team, and we began working on art. In October, we ordered a small prototype series of 20 games, and we sent some of them out to different reviewers and started lending the other ones out to individuals and events close to us. At the same time, we were slowly preparing for a Kickstarter campaign.


Right now, we are in the middle of the Kickstarter campaign. If it's successful, the production will start at the end of February or the beginning of March. Based on the information from the manufacturer, we are expecting the games to be finished in the summer. However, considering this is our first game and the current state of global supply chain delays, we want to be cautious and give ourselves some buffer time. So we believe we can promise to send the games to backers in October 2022.



SnowBoardGames is a small independent board game publishing studio that connects a group of enthusiastic gamers and creative individuals who have been tinkering with themes, mechanics and components, and combining them into new game experiences. Our mission is to give life to quality games that bring people together and whisk them into a thrilling adventure.



Nika Mlinarič and Blaž Hribar are designers of Hike! and the driving force behind SnowBoardGames. 


Nika is a physicist interested in numerical simulations. She has extensive experience in the aviation industry, where she was involved in the development of flight simulators. She was one of the 10 nominees for the 2019 Female Engineer of the Year Award, a national award that aims to provide role models for young girls and promote women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. She's currently taking a break from physics to ensure the Kickstarter campaign runs smoothly.


Blaž is a civil engineer working in a boutique design bureau. He specialises in the area at the intersection of civil engineering and architecture that focuses on the interplay of bioclimatic design and structural building physics. His mission is to design indoor environments optimized for the user. Nika and Blaž are an active couple who enjoy board games, climbing, mountaineering, snowboarding and mountain biking.



Maša Mlinarič and Martin Lenart Štrovs were one of the first Hike! playtesters and an extra pair of hands on the project when we needed help.


Maša has played a valuable role in the preparations and execution of the Kickstarter campaign and without her, our social media channel would go completely MIA in the last few weeks. She is a medical student who enjoys playing board games, writing, mountain biking and skiing.


Martin is helping us with the media materials. You can hear his voice in the project video. He is currently studying Management in Brussels and enjoys playing board games, climbing and mountain biking.



Paulina Wach is a concept artist and illustrator from Poland who specializes in portraits and animal drawings. She loves polish folklore arts. She is the author of the gorgeous illustrations that bring Hike! to life. She is professional, fast, excellent at deciphering our briefs and an amazing artist and person, and we are delighted to be working with her. We have received some questions about whether Hike! will be available in retail. The honest answer is, we hope so, but it really depends on how the Kickstarter campaign goes.


Hike! is a passion project, and the design team is currently doing it in our free time and covering development expenses out of our pockets. If we want to offer Hike! at a reasonable price, and with quality components, we need to work with professional manufacturers. And they require us to order in bulk, which is quite a large upfront investment for us. This is where Kickstarter comes into play. If we reach the funding goal, we will be able to place that bulk order and deliver a series of the game to our backers. And if we raise more than the set amount, our first priority is making a larger series that would allow us to make Hike! available through retail and in the longer run. The amount of funds raised will determine how successful we can make this process.


So if you like Hike! and you want to see SnowBoardGames publish other games in the future, supporting the Kickstarter campaign is the absolute best way to help us make it happen.

We have received some questions about whether Hike! will be available in retail. The honest answer is, we hope so, but it really depends on how the Kickstarter campaign goes.

Hike! is a passion project, and the design team is currently doing it in our free time and covering development expenses out of our pockets. If we want to offer Hike! at a reasonable price, and with quality components, we need to work with professional manufacturers. And they require us to order in bulk, which is quite a large upfront investment for us. This is where Kickstarter comes into play. If we reach the funding goal, we will be able to place that bulk order and deliver a series of the game to our backers. And if we raise more than the set amount, our first priority is making a larger series that would allow us to make Hike! available through retail and in the longer run. The amount of funds raised will determine how successful we can make this process.

The photo above shows a prototype copy. The components of the production copies may look slightly different, and the colour of the wooden cubes will likely change. Mentor cards will have an illustration on them - the art was not ready when we printed the prototype series. All cards are standard poker-sized cards.



Game components and gameplay are language-independent. All games will include an English rulebook booklet, and we will do our best to add other languages as downloadable pdfs. Our native language, Slovene will also be available.

First, choose the huskies for their abilities - snowflake movement points, and place them into the sled. But careful! Huskies have characters and not all of them like each other, so be sure to match the neighboring's cards' edges.



Do you have the equipment to get through the treacherous terrain, and have you taken enough time to train and care for your huskies? Make sure that you are well prepared, once you start racing, every musher is on their own.



You are ready to race! Use the combination of your huskies' skills and equipment to cover the longest daily distance. And may the best musher win!

Huskies are the stars of Hike! and the core of the dog-sledding team. If you google dog sledding, you will inevitably stumble upon controversy regarding dog abuse. We want to clearly state that there is absolutely no place for such behavior in Hike!. We see dog sledding as a team activity, where mushers and huskies work together, as a team, and they respect each other and care for each other. We believe no team member's well-being should ever be sacrificed for sports achievement!




We are based in Europe, so the base prices are given in euros. We have added approximate US dollar prices, but please see the current exchange rate if you want to know the exact prices down to cents. VAT is included in the price.




Add-ons are items that you can add to your base pledge in the pledge manager. To add it, simply select the item from the 'ADD ON' list. This menu will come up after clicking the 'Continue' button on the campaign pledge.




If you like Hike! and wish to have an even bigger experience, the Events and Traits expansion is for you. It adds a hefty deck of 64 cards to the gameplay. It includes trait cards that players get at the beginning of the game and that give them a bit of asymmetric starting positions, and event cards that add another layer to card drafting, and present players with more options in the race phase. Event cards are divided into two groups - the majority of them are events that only influence the race track or the player that played them, and there are 12 event cards that include more player interaction and a bit of 'take that' element. Players can decide if they want these last 12 events part of the game or not. The cards include text in English.

From the start, Hike! was intended to be a light and fast family-friendly game, but it has grown a bit from the original idea during the playtesting process. Most of the design team and a lot of our early playtesters like heavier (Euro)games, so ideas on how to add more depth and strategy spurred spontaneously. We didn't want to make all of them part of the base game, as we still wish for Hike! to be an inclusive game for all gamers, so we decided to offer them as an expansion. Beware, the expansion still doesn't make Hike! a heavy (Euro)game! But it does offer an interesting twist that we think more advanced players will enjoy. For all of you who like to have options!



Stretch goals are bonuses that we will add to the campaign when we hit certain funding levels. We have prepared some additional upgrades, eye candies and components that we hope to be able to add to the base game. We will announce them once we reach our funding goal. 




We are a new board game publisher, and not many people have heard about us yet, so getting out the word about Hike! really means a lot to us. We have prepared some treats to thank you for helping us reach more people.

Shipping costs are not included in the pledge prices and will be charged using a pledge manager after the Kickstarter campaign is complete. 


Below are the estimated shipping prices for different pledges. Shipping prices are subject to change due to fluctuations in global shipping. When it is time to ship the rewards, you will receive an email from the pledge manager to verify your address and finalise the shipping costs. We promise to do our best to find the optimal shipping option and try to lower all of the shipping costs as much as possible. 


Additionally, we plan to have a local pickup available in Hrastnik, Slovenia, and we hope to be at Essen Spiel 2022 with a shipping-free pickup available there too.




The idea for Hike! was born in January 2021. We created a proof-of-concept prototype and started testing and tweaking it. In February, we had a homemade prototype that was ready for playtesting outside our group, and Hike! had been continuously tested live and online through the following months. Simultaneously, an artist joined the team, and we began working on art. In October, we ordered a small prototype series of 20 games, and we sent some of them out to different reviewers and started lending the other ones out to individuals and events close to us. At the same time, we were slowly preparing for a Kickstarter campaign.


Right now, we are in the middle of the Kickstarter campaign. If it's successful, the production will start at the end of February or the beginning of March. Based on the information from the manufacturer, we are expecting the games to be finished in the summer. However, considering this is our first game and the current state of global supply chain delays, we want to be cautious and give ourselves some buffer time. So we believe we can promise to send the games to backers in October 2022.

Nika is a physicist interested in numerical simulations. She has extensive experience in the aviation industry, where she was involved in the development of flight simulators. She was one of the 10 nominees for the 2019 Female Engineer of the Year Award, a national award that aims to provide role models for young girls and promote women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. She's currently taking a break from physics to ensure the Kickstarter campaign runs smoothly.


Blaž is a civil engineer working in a boutique design bureau. He specialises in the area at the intersection of civil engineering and architecture that focuses on the interplay of bioclimatic design and structural building physics. His mission is to design indoor environments optimized for the user. Nika and Blaž are an active couple who enjoy board games, climbing, mountaineering, snowboarding and mountain biking.
