Miskatonic High - Volume 2: The River of Blood (200+ pages)
by Mike Shea
"As always, Miskatonic High keeps me guessing, and every time I think I've got a handle on how it's going to go, it cleverly takes me by surprise."
--Gerry of ScardeyGeek.com says of the stories in Volume 2.

Welcome to Miskatonic High, the comic series about the monsters who reside in a small New England town and the teenagers who ride the bus with them. Inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, and skewered with our sarcastic sense of humor, this is a series unlike anything you've read. But don't worry, you don't need to have read the works of H.P. Lovecraft (or attended a small New England high school) to enjoy this series. If you've ever dealt with any kind of monster (tentacled or not), this series is for you!
The story so far
We've successfully kickstarted 13 issues, a two-part crossover and a standalone oneshot! And for some reason, people keep coming back for more (clearly high school left them nearly as deranged as we are)!
So far, we learned that in the rustic hills of a small New England Berkshire town lies the prestigious Miskatonic High School. When the Community Service Club went on a field trip, they were launched on a strange journey that birthed a terrible evil into our century (even worse than Zoom meetings... okay, almost as evil as Zoom meetings)!
In this second volume, Alex, Matt, Ren, Simon, Sarah and Anton took a road trip to Innsmouth to deal with some family issues, solved the mystery of a ghost speakeasy, traveled into the Dreamlands, got sucked back in time to the primitive 1990s, escaped from a weird prison and discovered the truth about their town's twisted history as they followed... The River of Blood!
Bonus story
We've created a new 9-page short story specifically for this collection! The story features Alex on the world's worst date with Ricky the school reporter, as they both learn some Hard Truths.

Reviews are in
The reviews for the whole series have been tremendous!
Jenn Marshall of Sirens of Sequentials:
“Miskatonic High is a fun story that balances everything you want in a good horror story. There is some gore, but not so much that you get overwhelmed. The jokes are funny, but they don’t make the story feel like a parody of something else.”
The Pullbox called it “the bastard lovechild of John Hughes & H.P. Lovecraft.”
Here’s a bit from Paul’s review: “It brings a mismatched group of high schoolers together, throwing them against evil the likes of which you’d find in a dusty tome full of impossible to pronounce names. The beauty is in the execution. Despite some pretty heavy themes -- mounting madness, eternal torment, human sacrifice -- Mike Shea’s story stays fairly tongue in cheek. [Artist Ryan Mendoza] knows how to get his Lovecraft on.” Read the full review

Add ons
We have a lot of fun things you can add on, including back issues, metal bookmarks, pins and acrylic standees. The add on system is a little buggy when it comes to shipping costs. If you think there's a problem, let me know and I'll look into it.
